Black anime characters and West African mythology collide in The Legend of Tsakanin: Mask of Anansi!

The resilience of Black people is astounding. Our strength is forged by the wisdom of our ancestors. But what if there are greater forces at work? Forces that have been protecting and fighting for the Children of Africa through the ages?

The Story

Long ago, Nyame, king of the sky, ruled the continent of Africa. His servant, Anansi the trickster, wanted to rule Africa and its people. So, he led a rebellion against Nyame that raged for hundreds of years. In the end, Nyame claimed victory. But without its protector, Africa suffered at the hands of colonialism, slavery, and the pillaging of all its riches and resources. For his sins against Africa and the king, Nyame sealed away the powers of Anansi in a mask and hid them all about the land of Tsakanin.

In order to restore the scattered people of Africa to their former glory, Nyame formed a tribe of immortal warriors who fight from the shadows to liberate and bring about power to all African people around the world. He called them the Sojojin Haske.

In The Legend of Tsakanin: Mask of Anansi, teenager T’Keyah Rosé  journeys into the mystical world of Tsakanin. It is a land ruled by African deities called “orishas”, and it is there that she fights to claim her place as chief of the Sojojin Haske. With the power of her ancestor, T’Keyah fights to restore the Children of Africa to their former glory.
